Ana Paula Arato Gonçalves works as an architect specializing in conservation in São Paulo, Brazil. She has a Master of Science in Historic Preservation from the University of Pennsylvania, where her thesis focused on early detection of corrosion on concrete reinforcement. She has worked as an intern at the Getty Conservation Institute in the Conserving Modern Architecture Initiative from 2011 to 2012. In Brazil, she collaborated on the conservation project of Palacio Gustavo Capanema from 2012 to 2015, a national landmark in Modern architecture designed by a team of architects led by Lucio Costa. She currently collaborates in the development of the conservation management plan and in the concrete analysis for Edifício Vilanova Artigas financed by the Keeping It Modern Program by the Getty Foundation.
