Blair Bailey is currently the Andrew W. Mellon Fellow in Painting Conservation at the Detroit Institute of Arts. She holds two Bachelor of Arts degrees in Art History and History from American University, Washington, D.C. and graduated with distinction from the Northumbria University Master of Arts in the Conservation of Fine Art- Easel Paintings program. Ms. Bailey previously worked at The Ringling (Sarasota, FL), the National Gallery of Ireland, and in various Smithsonian Institution branches such as the National Portrait Gallery, Smithsonian Institution Archives, and the Museum Conservation Institute, as well as in private conservation studios within the Washington, D.C. area. Experiences in conservation also included public outreach through tours, blog posts, and social media.
