British-licensed architect with two postgratuate degrees in building conservation and over 36 years award-winning experience specializing in the conservation of historic buildings, ancient monuments and archaeological sites. Professional Associate of AIC; Fellow of the RICS, Society of Antiquaries, International Institute for Conservation and of the Association for Preservation Technology. From 2012 running my own international consultancy practice from Los Angeles. Former Board member of the Western Chapter of APTi. Previously staff consultant and practice leader for preservation technology with Simpson Gumpertz & Heger Inc a national firm of consulting forensic engineers, based in their Los Angeles office. Until 2006, Conservation Director of English Heritage in London, responsible for the leadership and management 90 multidisciplinary technical and scientific staff and consultants and a budget of $6m pa. Other responsibilities included technical research, policy development, advice, standard-setting, publications, outreach and training. Until 2007, Vice President of ICCROM, Rome and a member of the Getty Foundation's Conservation Committee.
