Joanne Klaar Walker has been working in the field of art conservation since 1999 and is a Professional Associate of the American Institute for Conservation of Historic  and Artistic Works (AIC).  Joanne is active in the conservation community, holding positions including Membership Secretary (2017-present) for the Southeast Regional Conservation Association, Co-chair and Chair of the  AIC Health and Safety Committee (2009-2013) and Membership Secretary (2008-2011) and Intern Coordinator (2004-2005, 2006-2008) for the Washington Conservation Guild (WCG).

From 2010-2013, Joanne was a Painting Conservator with ARTEX Fine Arts Services in Landover, Maryland.  Prior to that she was the William R. Leisher Fellow in Modern and Contemporary Painting Conservation at the National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C.  She has held positions in other institutions including the National Galleries of Scotland,  Worcester Art Museum, Balboa Art Conservation Center, and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum.

Joanne received her B.A. in Art History with minors in Studio Art and Classical Civilizations from the University of Richmond and an M.A. in Art History with an Advanced Certificate in Painting Conservation from the Conservation Center, Institute of Fine Arts at New York University.
