Kate Helwig

Kate Helwig has an honours B.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Toronto and a Master’s degree in Physical Chemistry from Stanford University. She studied artifact conservation at Queen’s University and received a Master’s Degree in Art Conservation. Since 1992, she has been working at the Canadian Conservation Institute where she is currently a Senior Conservation Scientist. She specializes in the analysis of art and archeological materials using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy and light microscopy.
